A Visit to Intel Korea: Meeting the Experts
Intel AI for Future WorkforceβββSpecial Lecture Series
The last day of our first week (Friday, Nov 14) was special. We stepped out of the classroom and headed to Intel Koreaβs office in Yeouido for a series of special lectures from current Intel professionals.

Intel Korea in Yeouido
π€ Lecture Schedule
- 2:00 PM: SVP Yoon (Intel Client AI Vision)
- 3:00 PM: Director Nam (OpenVINO)
- 4:00 PM: SVP Cho (Intel DC AI Solution Overview)
- 5:00 PM: Deputy Manager Kim (Intel AI Toolkit)
Attendance wasnβt mandatory, but obviously, I wasnβt going to miss this. It was a rare opportunity to see Intelβs AI technology and real-world solutions up close.
Preparing to Meet βFuture Bossesβ (?)
My home is in Yongin, which is quite a trek from Yeouido. Since being late is absolutely unacceptable to me, I planned to leave early.

46minβ¦not that far eh?
But before that, I had another mission. My hair was a bit of a mess, so I booked a haircut at my usual salon at 11 AM. Why? Well, this program offers internship opportunities at Intel for top-performing graduates. So, with the mindset that I might be meeting my future bosses (even though they probably wonβt remember meπ ), I wanted to look sharp and professional.
I arrived in Yeouido around 1 PM, way too early. I was actually the first one there, so I waited at a nearby cafe until my classmates arrived.
The Sessions
- Intel Client AI Vision (SVP Yoon) The first session was perfect for our level. He seemed to know exactly how much we knew (and didnβt know). He covered the basics of AI, Intelβs business areas, and how those businesses connect with AI technology.

2. OpenVINO (Director Nam) The second lecture was by the Head Developer of OpenVINO. He explained what OpenVINO is, why itβs powerful, who should use it, and its limitations. Despite being the person who actually built this software, he explained it in a way that even non-majors like us could understand. It was awe-inspiring to meet a βGosuβ (master) of this caliber.
3. Intel DC AI Solution Overview (SVP Cho) This session focused on Intelβs graphic cards and products. He candidly discussed the market situationβββdominated by NVIDIAβββbut explained Intelβs strategy of targeting markets that donβt necessarily require ultra-high-end, expensive GPUs.
Howeverβ¦ unlike the previous speaker, he seemed unaware of our beginner level. π He dove into extremely technical details about graphic card architecture. It sounded like alien language to me: βThis part of the GPU connects with that functionβ¦β But ironically, this lecture made reality hit home. It made me realize just how much I have to learn. I made a vow right then: βOne day, I will listen to this lecture again and understand every single word.β
4. Intel AI Toolkit (Deputy Manager Kim) The final session was practical. As a practitioner, he shared his experiences providing AI solutions. He will actually be visiting our classroom later as a mentor for our projects!
He gave us a reality check: βEasy problems have already been solved by existing developers.β To grow as AI developers and create meaningful results, we need to tackle the hard problemsβββthe ones no one has solved yet. He shared an example of a problem he solved for a telecommunications company (omitted here for security reasons).
Oh, one more thing. We each received an eco bag as a gift. I saw a review from a previous group of students who took this same lecture, and apparently, they received a hoodie! I canβt deny I was a little bummed about getting an eco bag instead.

Navy colored eco bag that I got!
A Long Dayβs Journey
After the informative sessions, my day wasnβt over. It was my grandmotherβs birthday, so I had to drive straight to Haman, which is about 4β5 hours away.

taking at least 4 hours..π«
Driving out of Yeouido on a Friday at 6 PM? Absolute hell. My schedule that day was intense:
11 AM Haircut β Cafe β Intel Korea Visit β Hellish Drive β Arrival in Haman.
It was a long, exhausting day. But as I drove, I kept imagining myself: βAfter finishing this 6-month course, could I be working at this amazing company?β
The dream keeps me going.
